Happy Weekend! Here are a few reminders to help you prepare for next week (and this weekend) as well as answers to a few questions that I have recently received.
The first Symposium Work Days are this weekend. If you have signed up to help or you would like to help, volunteers are meeting in the cafeteria Saturday, September 30th at 10AM and Sunday, October 1st at 3PM.
Symposium T-Shirt Orders–If you haven’t ordered a Symposium T-Shirt, it’s not too late. Shirts are $10 ($12 for Adult XXL and Adult XXXL). Students can wear Symposium T-Shirts the day of Symposium and all Fridays following Symposium.
Tuesday, October 3rd is Fall Picture Day. Don’t forget to hand in your Lifetouch form with student’s name, teacher, grade and any special instructions for the photographer. Payment is not necessary at this time. Proofs will be sent home at a later date and additional options will be available online. UNIFORMS MUST BE WORN–these pictures will be yearbook pictures. Get those haircuts this weekend!
The end of the First Nine Weeks is quickly approaching. Did you forget anything?
-Did you hand in the Box Tops that you’ve been collecting?
-Did you hand in Community Coffee Labels?
-Has your student reached his or her AR goal? (Kindergarten and most 1st graders will not have AR goals). Goals can be checked using the Renaissance Home Connect website.
-Remember, you can also keep track of grades using the parent portal. This will help to avoid any “surprises” on report card day.
*Students receive incentives for reaching goals, completing homework, attending school and being on honor roll each 9 weeks.
Shirts on Fridays–In addition to uniform shirts, students can wear Woodvale Spirit Shirts, Symposium Shirts and UL or red shirts (during football season) on Fridays.
Mirrors–We are collecting mirrors for a Leader In Me Wall. If you have any mirrors you are willing to part with, please consider donating them to Woodvale.
Playground Work Day will be Saturday, October 7th starting at 8AM. Volunteers are still needed. If you cannot volunteer your time, please consider donating food or drink items for volunteers. You can do so by clicking on the following link:
Saturday, October 7th is the next Woodvale Playground Work Day. Please help us thank our volunteers by donating food and drink items. Thank you for your generosity!
Sign Up Sheet
We are also accepting donations of cheap paintbrushes, paint buckets & paint thinner.
Woodvale Elementary wants to make our very own Leader in Me wall & we need your help!
Have any unused mirrors you would be willing to part with? Send them to school with your kiddos and they will be painted and hung to reflect the faces of all the bright young leaders walking through the halls!
Our first Popcorn Friday is September 29th! That’s 1 week from today. If you indicated an interest in helping out, you should have a received an email from the committee chairman. If you did not complete our volunteer form but would still like to help, it’s not too late! Please sign up for a time on our “Time to Sign Up” page located here.
This Tuesday, September 19, 2017 will be our second PTC meeting of the year. Please join your fellow PTC members in the Woodvale library at 6:00pm. We will be discussing several of our upcoming events including our first Popcorn Friday, this year’s Symposium, our playground work day and more. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
On Wednesday, September 6th at 6pm, Woodvale Elementary will host representatives from Pack 158 (Asbury) and Pack 156 (St. Mary’s) for a Cub Scout Recruitment and Information Session. Both packs serve the Woodvale community and are part of the Kuna Nisha District of the Evangeline Area Council. Representatives will be on hand to discuss all scouting has to offer the young men of Woodvale. Parents can gather information and register their child for either pack at the meeting.
Representatives with the Girl Scouts of America will also be on hand to provide information on Girl Scout activities available to the young ladies of Woodvale.
Make plans to attend and find out about the wonderful opportunities available through Cub Scouts, BSA and GSA.
