Woodvale Elementary PTC

Helping Our Eagles SOAR!

Month: August 2017

Open House is This Week!

Our first Open House of the 2017-18 school year will be held this Wednesday (for 3rd & 4th graders) and Thursday (for Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders) from 6:00pm until 7:30pm in the Woodvale Cafeteria.  Representatives with your PTC will be on hand collecting funds for our annual Membership Drive as well as our monthly Popcorn Friday Fundraiser.  This year, Hot Dog on a Stick Lafayette will be selling large cups of lemonade for $2.00 for Open House attendees.  A portion of the sales will be generously donated to your Woodvale PTC!  Refreshing & supportive!  So please remember to bring your cash and checkbooks to help support our cause – the wonderful kids of Woodvale Elementary School!

Open House is a great time to get information about the school year ahead.  Open house also serves as our first official PTC meeting of the new year.  Our school administrators and PTC board will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.  This is a perfect opportunity to check out your child’s classroom, visit with their teacher, and see what all has happened since classes began.  We hope to see you there!

Girls on the Run at Woodvale Elementary

Girls on the Run is an after school program like no other!
Twice per week for 10 weeks, girls will have fun, make friends, increase their physical activity levels and learn important life skills. Trained and caring coaches lead 3rd-5th grade girls through interactive lessons and running activities. The season ends with a noncompetitive 5K event. Flyers for Girls on the Run will go home in folders in the coming weeks.
Girls on the Run is looking for 1-3 volunteers to be coaches at Woodvale Elementary School.

Girls on the Run coaches help girls grow their confidence, set big goals, and work toward their dreams! Learn how you can help girls at Woodvale Elementary as a coach for the fall season: https://www.girlsontherunsola.org/Coach.

Successful Spruce Up Day

On Saturday, July 29, 2017, members of the Woodvale PTC, Kiwanis of Lafayette, AT&T Pioneers, Boys Scouts of America (Pack 162), Girl Scouts,  as well several community members came together for one successful spruce up day.

After a week of new playground equipment installation by Kincade Recreation, our generous volunteers spent an overcast and at times rainy Saturday spreading mulch, cleaning and paining old playground equipment, pulling weeds, planting flowers and herbs, and picking up trash. The rains could not dampen the volunteer spirit!  Young and old worked side by side to create an inviting and clean campus for our new and returning students.

Our playground and beautification projects are not one day events.  If this is something you are interested in, please visit our volunteer page and sign up for one of these committees.

Please take a moment to thank a volunteer and please consider doing business with one of our many community partners.

Our volunteers and community partners are vital to the success of Woodvale PTC!

Kindergarten Needs Our Help!

Every year, parent volunteers help our BRAND NEW incoming kindergartners learn their Woodvale routines during the first week of school. For the first week of kindergarten, we walk and then direct our little friends from the bus/car rider line to their classroom & through the lunch lines. More information about Kindergarten duty, please see the Kindergarten Bus & Lunch Helpers page under the committees tab.

In order to encourage a smooth transition for our new students, we encourage parents to wait to join their kiddos at lunch until routines are firmly established; a few weeks after the beginning of classes.

We have started an online sign-up sheet, please contact us if you have any questions or comments.
