Dear Parents,

It is a pleasure to welcome your child to Woodvale Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year. The first day of school for students in Grades 1st through 4th is Wednesday, August 9, 2017.  Parents of Kindergarten students, please see the attached letter for more Kindergarten information and start dates.

School hours are from 7:55 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

Car rider students are to be dropped off and picked up in the car rider lane in the front of school.

Car rider students may be dropped off between 7:25-7:50 a.m.  Afternoon car rider pick up begins at 3:10 p.m.  Parents of walkers will meet their children at the gate.   This policy is for the safety of all students.

Parents and students are invited to school for Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. in order to submit required documentation, locate classrooms, and meet teachers.

Parents and students may attend Meet and Greet ANYTIME DURING THE HOURS OF 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Below are the Meet and Greet procedures:

Parents and students REPORT FIRST TO THE CAFETERIA to submit a current proof of residence (this must be a current utility or gas bill with your name and current address dated June or July 2017) and class fees (Kindergarten – $20.00, 1st – 4th – $25.00).

Please make checks payable to Woodvale Elementary.

After proof of residence and class fees are submitted, class placement/teacher name will be given.

Students and parents then report to the designated classroom to meet the teacher and turn in school supplies (if purchased prior).  School supplies may also be brought to school on the first day.

Woodvale Elementary is providing Extended Care after school from 3:20 – 5:30 p.m.  This LPSS sponsored program will replace the YMCA program.  Registration will take place during Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.  More information will be given at Meet and Greet.

Gearing up for a big weekend at Woodvale!

We cannot stop talking about the new playground because we are SO EXCITED!

Our Woodvale kids have worked so hard over the past few years raising money for this playground, and we can’t wait until they get a chance to play on it!  We are beyond blessed to have the Kiwanis of Lafayette assist us with funding as well as with labor on this upcoming weekend.

Friday afternoon, volunteers will be on campus getting our playground ready for the big overhaul.  And Saturday we will have 25 Kiwanis of Lafayette members along with our PTC Spruce Up Crew on campus.  The goal of the day is to get our playground ready for WES students and to make our campus look beautiful for our Woodvale families.  If you have signed up to donate items for the volunteers, thank you!  Please drop off your items Saturday morning at 8am at the bus loop off Doucet Road.  And if you are interested in getting your hands dirty in the gardens, we will be waiting to meet you at 8am. Saturday.

Please follow the links below to our TimeToSignUp forms:

Or join us Saturday with your gardening equipment at 8am!

Here’s to another great year with our Woodvale Family!

Installation Progress

Kincade is moving right along with our playground install. Remember our spruce up day on Saturday July 29. That’s this Saturday beginning at 8am!

Playground Equipment Has Arrived.

Our new playground equipment has finally arrived!  The installation contractor began work today on our 2 new play areas.  Work will continue for the next 2 to 3 days and will culminate with our community volunteer group from Kiwanis of Lafayette working on this Saturday to finish the spruce up.  Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to support the Kiwanis of Lafayette at the 66th Annual Kiwanis High School Football Jamboree.  The Jamboree serves as the primary fundraiser for the Kiwanis of Lafayette, allowing them to support worthwhile projects throughout our community.  The Jamboree will take place on August 24 and 25 at Cajun Field.  Check back here for more information as it becomes available and visit the Kiwanis of Lafayette website found here.  Let’s go out to support this tremendous group!  And remember to tell them you appreciate all they do for our community, especially Woodvale Elementary School!

Playground Surface Arrives!

The surface material for our new playground equipment arrived Friday morning!  Drivers offloaded two trailer loads of certified playground safety fiber to be installed beneath our two new play structure areas.  On Monday morning, a crew from Kincade Recreation will begin installing our new equipment.  Over the past several years, our students raised over half of the funds needed for this project through their participation in our annual Eagle Fun Run event.  And in March of 2017, we were presented with a check for $25,000 from the Kiwanis of Lafayette to enable us to purchase our equipment.  Check out their post about the donation here on the Kiwanis of Lafayette website.  Also, the Kiwanis of Lafayette will be conducting a Volunteer Spruce-Up Day on Saturday, July 29 at our playground.  Take a look at that event here for more information.  And please consider joining us!

Woodvale PTC is extremely grateful for the generous support we continue to receive from our community.  Check out our Eagle Fun Run page here for a list of our 2017 sponsors.  If you happen to know a Kiwanis of Lafayette member, please let them know that you appreciate their generous support of our students!
